Low and Slow.....KC knows how to do it!

BBQ is a way of life....when it's done right it is delicious. Joe's Kansas City BBQ knows how to do it. As it states on their site...."In Kansas City, where barbecue is a way of life, it is understood that smoke has mystical properties. Smoke has the power to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. It can transform the least desirable cuts of meat into the most delectable. It can even transform a neighborhood corner gas station into one of the most popular restaurants on the planet."

Their story is a one that should inspire those who want to follow a passion. This is a husband and wife team (Jeff and Joy) who bought a smoker and entered BBQ contest and winning many of them. A list of all their trophies can be found here. They went into business with a man named Joe Don Davidson, who found and owned Oklahoma Joe's Smoker Company in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The three of them opened the first Oklahoma Joe's in 1996. In 1997 Joe sold his smoker business and moved to Texas. Jeff and Joy had an opportunity to purchase a small place in a gas station. They thought it was a great thing because they would be closer to home. They knew it would long hours and being closer to home would be a good thing. From there things took off. They now have three restaurants and they are happy with that. You can read their story here.

Now onto the food! First off the box is just fun! Home of the Z-Man....I honestly had no idea what I was in for when this box arrived. Not gonna lie I was a little nervous...no idea what was going to be in this box.

Here's what included in the box.
*Sliced brisket (2 package, 1 lb)
*Smoked Provolone Cheese
*Kaiser buns
*Onion Rings (!!!!!)
*Joe's Kansas City BBQ Sauce (1 bottle...we might have ordered an extra one)
*Seasoning (also an extra we ordered)

This is all the fixin's you need for the Z-MAN sandwich. Now each of these items by themselves are delicious BUT put them all together in a sandwich.....MOUTH WATERING! The Z-MAN is a big sandwich but everyone here loved it. Onion rings on a sandwich...why not!

** I should say all the instructions to make not only this sandwich, but all the states we have ordered come in the boxes. It can also usually be found online.**

Here is how we made a Z-MAN sandwich.... It was delicious and we enjoyed it! We added some fries too! It is a huge sandwich, but if you are in the mood for some GOOD BBQ you will not be disappointed. (Let's not talk about the mess in the background....this was at the start of the pandemic and having both girls home. Virtual learning is blowing up the table and we were just making it work.)

Goldbelly is currently sold out of this kit, but it will be back I have no doubt. You can also order it from Joe's directly.

What's your favorite BBQ to eat? Share and who knows we might try it because we are always looking for some good food!

Until we eat again,,,,,,
