Breakfast is a MUST

The pandemic hit and we were like well why not do more for breakfast! We use to do whatever to get out of the door to school and work. Whatever was easiest! Then we were all home and had the time to try and make new things so that's what we did. Here are some things we tried during our time at home......some were a hit....some were a miss....some we have made into our monthly rotation.

First up is Shirred Eggs.....when the hubby first mentioned these I had never heard of them or even had them, but I was willing to try. We actually made them this morning, They are very simple and have a great taste. You put the meat (ham, sausage, leftover ground meat, whatever) in the bottom of the (today we had ham steak in it). Then you top it with 2 eggs, salt, pepper, cheese and the most important ingredient of the whole dish....BUTTER!!!! Eat with a side of toast to soap up all the buttery goodness.

Another new one was Okonomiyaki! Can you say it??? This was delicious and I was a little worried about it. This is a Japanese cabbage pancake topped with okonomi sauce, pancetta (which was from Indiana) and other things. It was AMAZING!! This is a must try if you are for trying new things!

Another staple that has happened in this house is Shakshuka.....look how beautiful it is!!!! This can be made from scratch or a jar. Mina has a jar of the red sauce you can buy to make it. All you do is pour it in a pan and warm it up, then you crack the eggs in it to create a little hot bath for it. Cover it and let the eggs cook. IT IS DELICIOUS!!! We have made it from scratch and the can. Both are delicious and I can't recommend this enough! It's a must have!

I am going to leave you with my ALL TIME FAVORITE BREAKFAST!  My grandma Hale is the one who use to make this for me. It isn't your normal gravy....it is made with bacon grease. When I told the hubby I wanted biscuits and gravy I left out the key thing for the gravy and he never got it right. Then when I told him it was made with bacon grease and pieces....GAME CHANGER! I will always love biscuits and gravy and I love when he makes it for me.

What did you have for breakfast? I would love to hear about it and who knows we might try it!

Until we eat again.....
